Yes, but that's not the point at all. Political meetings and protests notwithstanding, in the end your opinion on national issues only can be exerted via politicians who almost always are elite because nobody else can afford it. You rely on available candidates agreeing with your opinion, being elected, and finding it expedient to pursue the policies that you want. If one of your available candidates is promising things that in your opinion are of more benefit to wider society, then isn't it wonderful that at least some elites are prepared to focus on the common good rather than their own benefit, which increasingly is different from yours. The rest of my comment is a truism.
