>Lincecum didn't have his best game against Arizona the other night. I've been following Arizona a bit since Aaron Hill and John McDonald were traded there. I like both of those guys and I'm really happy for them to have gone to a playoff bound team. I still think that if McDonald could hit his belt size, he'd be an allstar. The guy can field!

>I think Lincecum lost it a bit after he hit Upton. Every pitcher hits a batter now and then, but this one was really scary, and it was clear that Lincecum did not hit him intentionally. I think it shook him up a little and he just never got going after that.

I didn't see any details of the game other than the basic box score. If you look at Lincecum's record this season it looks pretty lousy, 13-14. Other than about four rocky starts he has pitched well, ranking 5th in the NL in ERA. (Surrounded by Phillies). The Giants just didn't score any runs for him. I read that they scored two runs or fewer in 21 of his 33 starts. Hard to have a good record that way.

The Diamondbacks and Brewers are neck and neck for the better record between them, the Brewers holding a one game lead. It looks like that will determine which of them gets the Phillies in the first round. That's going to be a tough matchup for anyone. Halladay, Lee, Hamels. Repeat. You probably have to go through them anyway but you hate for it to be in the first round.

Last baseball news this morning -- Ozzie Guillen leaves the Sox, apparently to take the job with the Marlins. This has been widely expected. I will miss having him in Chicago. Some think he is too outrageous. I think he is just outrageous enough ;-) Most baseball managers and players are so bland and inoffensive in their statements you can barely remember what they said. Not Ozzie.
