Don't know why you think I believed him; I just reported what Weiner claimed when the affair first came to light.

Although I'd never heard of him prior to the scandal breaking, I thought his claim unlikely. Yes, some celebutards have had their phones hacked, but I'd like to think Congresscreatures are issued phones that are reasonably secure, and/or they have tech support that takes security seriously.
