It's always fun when Newt mentions Christie, which he does at every opportunity. She also appears with him now at every public appearance. From partisan pit bull to ankle licking housedog, I'm just a happy husband, no threat at all, that's our Newt. This is quite a contrast to how he treated his wives publicly when he was serially cheating on and then dumping them. Most memorably cheating with Christie, the incumbent, while at the same time leading the outraged effort to impeach Bill Clinton for messing around with an intern.

There is no question Newt is a smart guy and a student of history. (How he spins it can be another matter entirely). An old line applies to him IMO -- "too clever by half."

UPDATE: that old line applies equally to Bill Clinton. Clinton is more in the category of charming rogue, a grand old southern tradition, but they have both sometimes overimpressed themselves.
