What I am looking for is a robust method of saving the environment (open work areas, index orders, record pointers, FoxPro SET values, etc.) upon entry of a called program and then restoring it on exit.

I can't remember where I got that from before either - but I think it was built into an error handler ...maybe one in a framework or in download section here?? Seems like MaxFrame might of had something like that, but it's been a while since I messed with it.
