It was all about licensing terms, not .NET or any other technological issue. What I was told was the company I worked for at the time, which sold packaged software to banks and credit unions, had dumped Crystal Reports because it had become a lot more expensive to distribute it as part of your app. Obviously this is hearsay but that is what I was told by a senior guy there.
