I know I overdo it with the musical tributes but this one made me feel good. The Clash remain among my heroes and it's good to know Joe Strummer was an amiable guy.
I was fortunate enough to see them twice. The first was at the L.A. Coliseum opening for The Who. The second was at the Tupperware Coliseum in Orlando, of all places. Joe Strummer wore a Mohawk and a white leisure suit. The closing encore was "I'm So Bored With the U.S.A."
The guy to the right is bassist Paul Simenon. He is the one in the iconic "London Calling" album photo. The photographer didn't want it used because it was out of focus, which just goes to show since it has been voted among the best album covers. The lettering is directly ripped off in tribute to an early Elvis album.
