I was going to start a thread saying the same thing. We knew it was coming but what a bummer.

It's funny that I got the news on my new iPad. I was chatting with my housemate / landlord Kourtney and her boyfriend Darryl, telling them the iPad was for anyone's use as long as I am here. And that was the headline. I involuntarily said "Oh, s**t" even though I know they don't like swearing. (Some may be amused that I am in the vortex of the bible belt). He was a giant.

It's the lead story on the Times. If you had to name five people from computer history he would be one of them. Bill Gates would be another and I'm not even sure who the others would be.
