I think the proper way to display application status information is with... you guessed it... a Status bar. FoxPro's Wait Window is kind of an oddity in the Windows world and really a left over from DOS. While it's useful for debugging etc. I think from a UI perspective putting those kind of messages on a status bar is the right way to do this.
