But did the japanese admirality not also have the task to minimze their own casualties ?
The same way todays soldiers from the military more developed countries are put out of range,
either in airborne delivery platforms or even further via drones ?
From the things I read, the US was cutting off Japan economically.
As I was not around that time, I am probably missing some frame[s] of reference.
