As far back as I can remember, presidents and the congress have been talking about reforming health care. Obama did it. Of course no one likes him or it - he does what they failed to do, in spite of "the party of No". It is perfect? Of course not. No plan ever is. But it's better than what we had by far.

By whose standards? Obamacare ensures that costs are going up, not down. Real reform could have been accomplished by allowing purchasing of health insurance across state lines and tort reform. This abomination needs to be repealed and replaced with something that actually stands a chance of lowering costs.

100 years ago everyone hated medicare.

Ahem. Medicare was not around 100 years ago:

The Social Security Act of 1965 was signed into law on July 30, 1965, by President Lyndon B. Johnson as amendments to existing Social Security legislation. This legislation included the establishing of the Medicare program. At the bill-signing ceremony, Johnson enrolled former President Harry S. Truman as the first Medicare beneficiary and presented him with the first Medicare card, and Truman's wife Bess, the second.
