>>Per capita, Norway's (pop. 5M) managed funds are about twice that of Australia (pop. 22M).

The JP Morgan report I quoted is getting old, but so are the wiki figures for Australia from 2005/2006 which don't include hundreds of $B in other managed Aussie funds either. The most recent figures I can find suggest Australia has at least US$1.5T and probably over US$2T in managed funds heading for a predicted value by 2028 of more than US$10T for the Super funds alone- not in a single fund like the Norwegian sovereign oil fund, but in total. Most recently the Norwegian oil fund had around US$539B with the Norwegian Ministry of Finance forecasting a 2030 value of US$1T.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
