Bonjour Michel

I have an iPhone 3gs and I like it a lot.

I will definitely upgrade to another iPhone when my contract is finished.

Buuuut there are some things worth mentioning.

First: I order a black iPhone. They (Fido) sent me a white one. I got billed for it even if I didn't have it yet. But it's not that bad considering my other cell phone. Besides the color thing everything is perfect with that phone.

Not sure why other say it's a close environment. Perhaps not as flexible as an Android but it's about the same openness as a Windows Phone. Meaning that on iPhone and Windows phone you can't install your apps directly on your phone. You have to go through the App store. Android has that advantage, I guess, where you can upload your apps on your phone.

I remember many years ago a strong argument to buy a PC over a Mac was that there are many more apps for PCs. The situation is now the opposite. There are many more apps for iPhone than for Windows Phone. Not only that when you pay 1$ for an App you'll frequently pay a lot more for the same app on a Windows phone. Another thing to keep in mind. Sometimes Windows phone app look like crap.

My nieces played a lot with my iPhone. End-result the battery is now practically dead. But here again not a big deal because will let me have a new iPhone 3gs for 80$. I can live with that.

iTunes is very simple to use and reliable. Everything is saved on your PC.

Zune is a PITA :-) With Zune you can keep your videos and photos on your PC, not your contacts and other important informations. This won't be a problem for you because Exchange will let you keep your data. But for smaller businesses it would have been nice to be allowed to save everything on your pc directly with Zune.

Now my horror story ;-)

Someone told me about a very nice deal. When getting a contract at Telus with a Windows phone they gave a xBox360. I thought this was almost too good to let go by. So I got an HTC surround for an associate (like Wal-Mart) ;-)

She had the phone for only a couple of months. One day she called me and told me she lost all her informations. Meaning contacts, e-mails. Then she called me back again later on saying everything was there again. And then again later on to tell me everything was lost again. And later on shed called me again to tell me that there was an infinite loop. When she opened it she only saw the screen HTC and then Telus and then back to HTC and on and on...

I took it to Telus to have it repaired. It was supposed to take 3 to 6 weeks to repair. They were supposed to call me when rey received it. They didn't call. The person at telus told me to call HTC to see what was happening. HTC didn't have a clue about what happened to my phone. The thing is that my Windows Phone was at Telus but they didn't call me to tell me they received it.

So I go to Telus to pick my phone. I open it and it took a long time for it to revive. I asked if that was normal. Sooooo I had to return it because it wasn't working well. Oh and they changed the LCD. on the first fix which in not related to the problem mentioned.

So it took another 3 weeks before I received it again.

Now things look ok but you can imagine that this will probably the last time I deal with Telus and perhaps my last Windows Phone. And by the way I'm not the only one with a Windows phone that was on an endless loop sequence. Someone else I know got the same problem.

I heard people say that there are problems with iPhone. But at some point I wonder if it's just Android or Windows phone people trying to give bad publicity to those phones hoping it will help Android and Windows phone sales.

So here's my suggestion. Whatever you buy make sure that everything is in the contract. Telus told me that my phone would be replaced if it's sent 3 times to be repaired. So the next time I bring it to be repaired (and I don't know why but I strongly feel it will happen) I should get a new phone. But here again I'm sure they'll find an obscure clause where it won't apply in my case.

Ask for a copy of a standard contract. Read it thoroughly. Then get back to the store to hear their sales pitch. Whey they say something that is not in the contract make them add it to the contract.

Good luck and feel free to ask me more informations if and when needed.

>There is a big discussion right now as to know which phone to buy, thus either the IPhone 4S or the Galaxy S2. I like the Galaxy S2 because it can be seen as a drive from my PC, thus I can download as is videos and photos. With the IPhone 4S, we still have to use this online ITunes interface of whatever. As far as the speed, they confirm both are the same. The Galaxy is a little bit less expensive. So, any comment on which one I should target for?
