Is there any way in VFP 5.0 to convert the contents of a field to a different value during an APPEND FROM statment. I have to append data from an SDF file with dates in the format "CCYYMMDD" (ie "19980413"). I would like to automatically change these to a date format.
Could I use TRIGGERS ?

Suppose you have SDF data like this :

Michael 19960219Suayama
Cetin   19610119Basoz
Efecan  19900628Basoz

and corresponing dbf structure :
Name char 8
Birthdate date
Lastname char 10. Then you just execute "append from mySDF.txt type SDF".
