>>I've used VPC, it works fine. A client purchased several new PCs, all of which had W7 64bit installed. Although VPC worked without a problem, the added "complication" for unsophisticated users (not a put down, they know their jobs) created other problems, After a couple weeks I installed XP on the new machines and now life continues without any new and unnecessary problems. One of the issues I recall was that the USB port was shared between VPC and the host which caused the backup to encounter problems (easily resolved - for me). OTOH, never had those issues with XP so that was/is the answer.

>I'm willing to bet that the problems you were having weren't specifically with Windows 7 itself but rather dealing with 64-bit environment. You probably would've been able to solve the problem by installing 32-bit version of Windows 7. I'm willing to bet that the version of XP that you installed to correct the problem was the 32-bit edition. Had you installed the 64-bit edition of XP you probably would've run into the same sort of problems you were having with Windows 7.
