I saw earlier today in the news that Newt has shot up in the polls. In fact I think it was the same article, linked from cnn.com.

My take is one of the hard core conservatives had to get a bounce with Cain and Perry both imploding. It still looks to me like Romney will wind up being the nominee. The more conservative wing of the party can't stand him but I think eventually they will hold their noses and line up behind him.

The same poll showed Romney as the only Republican candidate who is approved by more people than disapprove of him. And it isn't by much, something like 3 percentage points.

The election is still a year away. A thousand things can happen in that time.
