Obama gave in to the protesters. The bottom line is that there is a heck of a lot of oil in our two countries. There's enough to stop buying from countries that are grossly over charging for oil. Indeed, there is enough to stop buying from anyone outside north America. I imagine that if the pipeline got started, the Saudis and Opec would reduce the price of oil and keep it low until the pipeline construction stopped.
