>>And if you sister who never went to college had inherited huge wealth from someone who had (in turn ) inherited it .
>>
>>What if she had - which she did not? Are you saying that I have no right to leave my accumulated wealth to whomever I see fit? Are you saying that the government has more of a right than I do to decide what I do with the fruits of my labor?
>>
>>Andy's brother died suddenly a few years back and the woman with whom he had been living for 30 years had a heck of a time dealing with the UK government over her inheritance. Because Andy's brother had handled all of the money (including her income), she had to prove to the government that the money she had earned was rightfully hers and not subject to the death tax. Do you think that is right?
>>
>>You often mention the "through hard work etc" Marcia. So would you be ok with removing the right to inherit wealth ?
>>
>>No. The government has no right to conficate the earning of people, whether or not they are still alive.

>Thats not my point. You're always banging on about how you've earned what you've got and why should anyone take it from you (a very fair point BTW) I just wanted to know how you felt about those who didn't earn "it" but got it through an accident of birth.

Following your logic you are lucky to be born (by accident <g>) in London and it would be "fair" to move you to some less developed country and someone from over there to take your place. I have no problem with that <g>.
