>OK. Although I still believe that being on the dole as a way of life is not something to be condoned, times are tough and the family (unfortunately) is not what is used to be. In the past, when individuals fell on hard times, they could look to their families to help them out. Since this is no longer the case, it is a good thing to have a temporary safety net like the welfare system to help people get back on their feet.
