nope - or at least "must" is too strong a word.
If you have a normal vfp app, a wizard can help with the move to silverlight as well,
but much of the internal structure of a vfx and silverfox is identical, making the port easier

Yes, but moving from silverlight to metro is a smaller step.
You can bet that Metro support is one of the things currently under evaluation.

I have more doubts on the future/wisdom of other concepts integrated, like the
limited support for fxp via Dotnet-runtime - as future browser won't support plugins,
such integration has not a bright future IMHO and
MS on mobile has a lousy track record so far - even if Metro/W8 come closer,
they won't be able to dominate the market like on intel. If that is out of the picture,
much of the perceived benefit of Metro development is questionable -
I skipped the last few Silverswitch get-togethers.
