MS SQLServer has absolutely no problems with our code:

lcsql = [CALL proctest(?@retv);]
sqlexec(lcsql)

But I have been unsuccessful at any attempts for MySQL to return a value to my parameters even though it's defined as INOUT

Has anyone got success with MySQL returning values other than a cursor?
