If the 6 inches is the width of the page, I would just lie to the report layout tool and just set the margins so that it doesn't print any wider than 8.5 X 6.
If you really need a custom paper size, the key to making that work is setting up a custom printer driver for that specific paper size.
If there's a tool that let's you handle that without building a separate print driver, I sure would love to know about it. I haven't done this form .NET yet but have done it for several clients in VFP. It's a pain to keep up with the drivers.
