If the site is not showing up in search engines then you may need to improve the metatags and also submit a sitemap to the major search engines? - but it seems to me that this process has become a semi-specialized subject in itself. If coming high on the list of URLS from a search engine is really important it may be worth hiring someone who's good at achieving that.

I think the problem he is referring to is that redirecting using masked redirection stops sites being indexed by search engines.
I think for his type of site trying to get high on search engines is a waste of effort.
