I managed to make it to adulthood with no broken bones and very few scars - with no seatbelts, helmets, or padding -playing baseball in the backyard, football (not soccer) in the street, basketball in the driveways and skateboarding on the sidewalks - as did a lot of people. What was wrong with us? (grin)

>>When I was a kid (and dinosaurs walked the earth), that was probably the thing we heard most. "Don't do that, someone will get an eye poked out". Yet I've never met someone who actually DID get an eye poked out. Broken bones, yes - scars, youbetcha - but an eye poked out, never.

>>>Here's a better Christmas story (no eyes shot out) (we used to insist on eye protection when my son played with his BB gun)

>>>>He's referring to "A Christmas Story", the movie in which all this kid wants for Christmas is a Red Ryder BB gun. Every time he asks for it he gets told "You can't have one of those, you'd shoot your eye out.". Eventually he gets one and, sure enough, he shoots himself in the eye.
