Agreed - C# or VB.NET really. Then jump into ASP.NET with or w/o MVC and build mainstream apps rather than hanging on to a technology that ended years ago.

It's one thing to try to find a way to leverage tons of existing code into newer technology (sometimes there might be an arguement for it) - it's another to do new development trying to use technology that is obsolete.
