>>Stupid question (our specialty) -- how is bird flu transmitted to humans? Handling dead birds who are infected?
>
>Handling a sick bird is number one. There is also airborne droplets in a sneeze. Thankfully, it hasn't mutated into an easily transmitted form that likes humans for dinner. Recently, some scientist created the version that is a threat to humans and published their work. I believe the 1918 flu that assisted in ending WW1 was a form of bird flu. H5N1. I have an interest in flu, so I may follow it more closely than most and I post the findings here. So, avoid people who cough and sneeze and wash your hands often.

Thank you for the explanation. I tend to close my eyes to non-imminent threats like this, for better or worse.

Mike (going to wash his hands right away)

PS -- Now here is a news story I like. "U.S. destroyer rescues Iranian fishermen" -- truth really is stranger than fiction sometimes.
