>>>Hello all,
>>>
>>>I need to import a badly designed Access database into SQL server so I can manipulate and re-organize the data programatically in order to export it to csv files. I go through the import wizard and set up the data mappings basically just straight across but it keeps failing. Then when I try to save the dtsx file I am not able to open it again. I am getting a message; see attached.

Which edition of SQL Server?

Can you start BIDS and then run SSIS project?
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
