The product is very good and extremely powerful, fast, multi-platform, multi-database connectivity, multi-threading,32 / 64bit, desktop, mobile, web, etc. You can email them for support as they are quite good with that as well.

What language to use is very difficult decision but I think you can start working towards an answer by asking a series of high level / broad stroke questions. For example (but not a complete list);

1) Do you want to become more employable or are you self employed and selling your own applications?

2) If you want to find work, then where? In larger or smaller companies?

3) If you sell your own applications then what is the target market for them? Corporate clients, small clients, individuals?

4) Do you want to focus on desktop, mobile or website type development?

5) Do you want to be on Windows, Linux, Apple or any/all?

6) Do you want to be open-source or closed or either?

7) What type of programming interests you? Gaming, business, data, security, mathematical, social media, etc.?

Just some ideas to start narrowing the choices a bit since not all tools are suitable for all answers.
