>My project manager is suddenly declining to remember any of my configurations. The fixuser.dbf is empty and nothing seems to wake the PM up to fact that I want my last project to load on entry, etc. Obviously I am missing a switch somewhere. Anyone know what it is?

I'm not sure of this, but you may have some corrupted registry entries for VFP; fortunately, there's an easy fix if that's the case. From the Run dialog box, fire VFP with the -R parameter; this refreshes the base registration detail for VFP. If VFP is installed in C:\VFP5, the command line would read:

C:\VFP5\VFP.EXE -R

Once that's done, refrsh your information within VFP in the Options dialog and save it.
