>>I think that the best way to solve a debt problem is to spend more, not less. Personally, when I see a fire raging, my first impulse is to pour gasoline on it in order to extinguish it.
IMHO neither spending nor slashing is enough to solve the debt. Especially when "hyper-inflation" has only a few extra letters and is just as effective a sound-bite as the others- AND has a chance of actually succeeding.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
