Had not realized that - esp as VirtualPC is free and XP mode is only available on prof.
How to define "cheaper" in such surroundings ??
Update: esp. if you have copies for the OS in the VM from older machines or MSDN ?
And really funny: they show installing Office97, the version I mostly use,
even if I have licenses for newer versions here as well - need it for some outlook/exchange combos
or to read newer file formats, but for most of my dayly work 97 ist good enough,
without torturing my brain with "improved" (aka rearranged) GUI items.

Still, the ability to run an established VM under a secondary/safety/external linux-OS
(which is great from DVD and even better from USB) gives a better feeling, even if the files of
VirtualPC, virtualbox and VMware are reported to be readable/runnable by the other products.

>>Anyone care to make a recommendation on what they consider the best VM. I am familiar with virtualbox, and also VM Player. I have 8 gig of RAM and i7-2670QM on a new Lenovo notebook, with Windows 7.
