Hi

I use the Chrome Developer tools which support a nice debugger with break points, command window, call stack, watch window etc. I must admit it took a little while for me to figure out how to use the tools but now I am able to debug as well as I could in VFP.

I am using QooxDoo because everything is done in javascript including CSS. It is all class based to it fits with my OOP knowledge from VFP. I did look at sproutcore and I do not now remember what I did not like. It might have been the need to use HTML and javascript whereas I as looking more for a programming language to build apps the way I was use to doing with VFP.

As far as the backend I am currently using Web-Connect with my VFP tables. I do plan at some point to change this but it is working well so I am focusing on the frontend. I have used PureBasic with VFP com which works well. I also have PowerBasic and it can be used with Codebase which then gives me VFP table compatibility with the option to have larger tables sizes and client server. Perfect Sync SQL for Powerbasic gives you access to any ODBC database so I could use it with PostGreSQL etc. However, I have not made a final decision on this part yet. I have also played with GWan application server. It main attraction is its extreme speed. Unfortunately the development has moved to mainly Linux after the developer got frustrated with the limits imposed by Windows design. It is an interesting project and would allow a person to support a huge number of clients from a single server so that has some interest if I wanted to switch to a Linux backend solution. I have another product from this developer called Remote-Anything and it still runs circles around other products for remote access.

>What you are doing with "QooxDoo" sounds real exciting. I really got turned off with javascript with my recent experience. Hard to debug and other reasons. But I realize it appears that web is going that way - that is turning to javascript for the client side. What are your thoughts on "sproutcore" and other javascript frameworks? And what are thoughts on the programming languages for the server side?
