>Thanks, Naomi. However, if I install Virtual Machine, wouldn't I also need to install Win XP, too? It's not my computer (although I have a different problem with mine), but a friend's and I don't know if she wants to buy another operating system. Since she has Win 7 Home, she can't run it in 32 bit mode.
Fox2x is 16-bit and simply will not run natively on a 64-bit Windows OS. She'll need to run it on one of:
- a 32-bit version of Windows in a VM
- set up dual-boot so her computer can boot either Win7 or WinXP. This means acquiring a separate XP license, or transferring one she may already have if it's a retail (not OEM) license
- use another computer that has a 32-bit OS
In her circumstance, the Microsoft recommendation would be to:
- use the on-line Windows Anytime Upgrade and upgrade her Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional. This is not free:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows7/products/windows-anytime-upgrade- download and install Windows 7 XP Mode, which is a canned version of 32-bit Windows XP in Virtual PC. This is a free download for users of the Professional version or higher
- run Fox2x in XP Mode
