Ah. That wasn't immediately obvious (at least to me :-{ )
ITC, doesn't it just boil down to the old problem of keeping the SQL schema in sync with the installed application version.
I think others have mentioned it but, IIRC, Redgate have a pretty good tool for doing that job....
