My FoxPro desktop UI skills are getting taxed recently and I'm finding out things that I thought didn't work can be made to work in some cases. So here's another one:
Is it possible to get transparent images onto buttons other than using BMP and Image Mask icons? Most of my icons are GIF files and while they show up fine on buttons they don't respect their transparency.
The Image Control does respect the transparency and I can place an image control on the button but it disappears when hovering and clicking so that looks bad as well.
I did find an odd comment on Tek-tips that seems to suggest that this works somehow, but I can't quite parse that answer:
http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=14258322. Save the picture as a GIF. Within your picture editor, mark the background areas as transparent. In VFP, create an image object (not a command button), and set the Picture property to the GIF. You don't have to make the image visible. In fact, you can destroy it as soon as you've created it. Next, go ahead and place the GIF on a command button. You'll see that the transparency is respected.I tried loading up the image control but the button image continues to be opaque.
Is there a way to make this work?
