Most arrests stem from police reacting to someone calling for help. In the minority community, we respond time after time to the same address where she says, "he hit me and called me all kinds of B's and H's" and he is probably gone. She will probably have some bruises or a cut as well. So, a warrant may be issued, or he may be in the area and wind up being scooped up and taken to jail where they take him in one door before shoving him out the other. Single parent familiies are the number one problem, IMHO. The dysfunctional families are merely staging areas for prison. The kids grow up with pimps, whores, drug dealers and gang bangers, or an occasional athelete as their role models. If they make it out of the hood, and become a productive citizen, it's a miracle. I don't have a lot of hope for them because this problem must be fixed by the minority communities. The white guys can't fix it.

We aren't perfect, but we are the line between what we have today and anarchy. You should get a bumper sticker though, "If you don't like the police, next time you are in trouble, call a hippie!" lol

>1 in 3 Americans under the age of 23 have been arrested...if you're that age and a black male the number is MUCH MUCH higher.
>I consider that a huge problem. Now days that's how the cops want to handle pretty much any little problem - and could care less of the social implications. I think your daughters cynical attitude might be well justified as close to 1/3 or her friends have probably been arrested for something stupid. I suppose if you start locking up people when they're young it will help job security if your are a cop or work in a jail or prison (some of which are for-profit privately owned!) or one of the zillion industries that depend on a steady stream of inmates...oh gee did I sound cynical?
