Now that's a good grandmother.

Yesterday in the car I had a nice conversation with my younger daughter, (The car always seems to be the best place to talk with your kids). I came up with ancient memories of my Nana, things I had not thought of in years. We all have primal memories of the one who loved us most. She was mine. She loved everyone and saw the best in everyone, even incorrigibles. She and Peewee (definitely a Maine name), her husband of over 50 years, would take in the betrotten along with stray cats and dogs. Everyone welcome; the door is always open. She never had much of monetary value but she was worth a million bucks. When she was growing up rural Maine was not a gentle place, so her sunny outlook was a miracle.

>>I especially want to reach out to Martina. She is a very brave woman and had an effect on me that she never knew. For a number of years I carried my secret inside but I watched Martina's every move. Her amazing bravery and committment to her true self inspired me and showed me that it was possible to truly be one's self even if the world didn't see you as you are. Thanks Martina!
