Well I am sort of in a pretty nice situation. We have one fairly visible and mission critical system that is built in VFP using SQL Server as a back end. I was lucky enough to be a small part of the team that built it for eMedicine. The company is working towards upgrading the system using newer technologies but in the mean time the data resides in the SQL Server databases in a pretty sophisticated data architecture. Seems there is only one person left in the company that was part of the design team for that data model <grin>.
