there are a bunch of them: that's one of the nice things about Python, everything you need is already there.

For an editor, I suggest (free) Aptana -- they make the PyDev plugin for Eclipse, but have even better integration with their own customization of Eclipse. http://www.aptana.com/products/studio3/download

Have fun. My mind feels free and clear when using Python (which I've learned since is a very common experience, having read off-hand testimonials to that several times around the web). The level of encapsulation, the way pieces fit together, is just right, at least for me.
