Nothing lasts for ever. But, I don't think it's tomorrow that .NET will go away. It's still in the front line at Microsoft. Companies have invested considerable amount of money to move up to this up to date technology. It would surprise me that it would go away just like that. I would say it'd be there for several years to come.
Many predicted VFP to be gone since a very long time and it last pretty much 10 additional years than expected. Unless one would have a crystal ball, it's pretty much difficult to predict the future.
