Hi,

The servoy $5k server licence is for SaaS (Software as a Service), is that what you want?

Maybe you should look at the Smart client, we are about half way thru porting our app to Servoy. The further we get into it the happier we are, I would recommend it to any VFP programmer.

I will list the different types below, Servoy will taylor a package to suit your needs.

Applications developed in Servoy can be deployed in a browser with our Web-Client and/or by using our Smart (thin/rich) Client, both from the same code-base.

Community Edition
Servoy's Community Edition allows you to try and develop with Servoy at no cost. Up to five users can be used in open source or evaluation mode of the Servoy product suite.

Web-Client pricing:
For SaaS based applications (browser only) we offer CPU and Server based licenses. A CPU license is $5,000 per year, it will run on any hardware as long as it has a single CPU with a maximum of 2 cores. A Server license is $10,000 per year and runs on any Server with as many CPU's as you like. Both licenses include subscription for new versions and upgrades of Servoy technology.

Smart-Client pricing:
For applications using our Smart-Client you need to purchase concurrent Client licenses (concurrent licenses may be used for Web Client deployment as well). Smart-Clients may be deployed on premise in a Client/Server model, or over the internet in a SaaS/hosted delivery (No need for Citrix or Terminal Services). Smart-Clients go down in price based on volume, please contact us for more information.

Site licenses and Revenue share models:
For corporate customers who need maximum flexibility in terms of licensing, we have site licenses available, please contact us. Corporate site licenses give corporations an unlimited license for use of Servoy products for a fixed yearly fee. For ISV's who need maximum flexibility, we offer Revenue share models as part of our ISV Assurance Package.

Servoy Clustering and Load Balancing
Servoy Clustering and Load Balancing is licensed separately and available for both Smart and Web Client technology. For pricing details please contact us.

>I know people ask over and over again and I think I have even asked the question before but "if not VFP then what" ?

>We decided to go .Net and SQL server, therefore I have been learning C# and we have been planning to move our application to .Net C# starting next month however...

>1. I have seen posts across the Internet that imply .Net is no longer Microsoft's favourite child and might go the way of VFP?
>
>2. I have just been told that one of our applications will needs to run on Android in the not too distant future! do I now port to .Net and then need to port again? or is there something usable now that we can port to and compile for both Windows and Android?
>
>I did have a quick look at Servoy, which implies it can compile to Windows/Android but at $5,000 a year per server I don't see how we can migrate our clients and still make money.
