Hi Neil,
I don't see how the premises of your post automatically leads to the conclusion :) But I do agree with the premises. The future in this fast changing world is unknowable. Servoy looks interesting but for me it is a big difference to application development vs. my VFP background. Plus, the licensing model is not suitable for our needs. WinDev ticks the necessary boxes for us, at least at this time.
I would repeat that if you are a contractor or employee to the corporate world then .Net is probably the best, or one of the best, choices. The old saying, no one ever got fired for buying IBM can become no one ever got fired for choosing .Net. This is the safe route for this type of programmer / developer / software house. It is not necessarily the best solution, which is another question and metric. Servoy, Python, LUA, WinDev, etc., etc. - these are all options open to us if we are not constrained by our market space / client dictates. For me personally, WinDev looks and feels like VFP application development, but on steroids.
