Two things I'd look at:

- Anti virus - Exclude any folder VFP is using.
- File caching on the local drive. Turn it off.

>I am currently responsible, amongst other things, for the development and maintenance of CRM/ERP platform developed in Visual FoxPro 9 sp2. This client/server app pulls data from databases held on a Windows 2008 SQL Server (2008) and is currently used by around 30 users on a gigabit ethernet network.
>
>The majority of users are running Windows XP Professional with a small handful, myself included, using Windows 7 Professional 32 bit.
>
>Last autumn we took on 5 new members of staff, supplying them with shiny new Dell machines, all running Windows 7 Professional 64bit.
>
>The situation that has been brought to my attention is the poor performance of my VFP9 app for these users. Other users have reported issues in the past but these have usually been down to the optimisation of queries in the SQL back end.
>
>In this case the queries are processed as expected BUT VFP9 appears to be dawdling when building the screens.
>
>The general process I've used for this app is to execute a SQL stored procedure via ODBC (and boy did I have fun with that on Win 7 64) and then set textbox values one by one, based on the returned data (held in a Visual FoxPro cursor). This is normally instantaneous.
>
>On the Windows 7 64bit machines I can see Fox slowly populating each value on screen.
>
>Only the VFP app seems effected. I have other VB6, .Net and VB 2008 apps that run fine.
>
>Now the app ran fine initially but at some point since Autumn 2011 something has been updated on those PCs to slow them down. The app hasn't had any major revisions since then.
>
>One thing that has changed recently is that we moved premises over Christmas, all the PCs now connect to a gigabit network with gigabit cards (in PCs and servers) and gigabit switches. They even have brand new cables (It's one of the services my company offers, we know what we're doing when it comes to this kind of setup).
>
>I've even tried reinstalling the runtime files.
>
>Have any of you had similar performance issues with VFP9 apps on Windows 7 64 bit?
>
>Other than the usual antivirus checks is there anything any of you would advise me to check?
>
>I'll be grateful for any advice on offer!
