I know I had both the measles and the mumps. My mother was a nurse so don't think it was a matter of ignorance. Was there even a measles vaccine back then? I remember my daughters' pediatrician saying he was ambivalent about it because it is a relatively mild disease, a matter of a few days, which can be more serious later in life. (As can mumps).
