>>>>Right - if the Bishops are the ones telling these institutions they can't provide contraception then ultimately it's the women who get screwed (pardon the pun).
>>
>>Wrong, you invented that because it is more convenient. In the real world the religious employers still must include contraception in their health insurance cover.
>>
>>>>Correct - of course the Bishops are all against rubbers and sterilization (they want more members/money).
>>
>>The first is a widely understood religious principle. People who don't like it are not compelled to take jobs for religious institutions any more than a Jehovah's Witness must take a job at a blood bank or a Muslim take a job at Uncle Bob's Brewery unless they can maintain separation between their own beliefs and their employer's. This happens all the time in all sorts of jobs- ask Asian immigrants.
>
>Exactly. However, Uncle Bob's Brewery must still abide by the same federal and state laws regarding OSHA, employment laws, and benefits regardless if it is in accordance with their beliefs or not.... :o) Just because Uncle Bob's Brewery offers beer doesn't mean you are forced to take it or purchase it. Offering beer is not a forced action under the law anyway. Neither is serving it or drinking it.
>
>Offering it doesn't mean you HAVE to partake. If your religious beliefs do not allow you to condone contraception, then don't accept it or use it. However, all employers should have to offer it if they reside in the U.S. and fall into state or federal law requiring it. (Frankly I am surprised that it is the LAW that it must be offered at all, but it now appears to be a law). There are a lot of religious views in the Bible and other religious sources that are not legal in the U.S. nor do they excuse employers or educational institutions, etc from having to abide by the laws. Exemptions should only exist for true health reasons, not beliefs.

First, good to see you back here. Second, I tried to put myself in the shoes of the catholics. I am Jewish and don't eat pork. I would be offended if I worked for a company and every day someone would put a plate of pork in front of me without forcing me to eat it; just as a friendly offering <g>.
