I use "server-based" office automation to create Excel Spreadsheets and Word Documents, but I use Office 2003 and most folks are going to 2008R2 for their servers. While they can load 2003 word/excel on the server for me, it is getting harder and harder to get all the security issues worked out and there has always been a stability risk in doing server based office automation (OK, so it worked great for 10-12 years!).
I would really like to just go to creating the Excel and Word documents via the new 2007/2010 format (xlsX and docX) and by bypass requiring excel/word on the server at all. No one seems to be doing that in VFP. Should I go a dotNet route or are there any reasonable solutions with VFP9?
