>>Lately I have been reading the mystery novels of John Lescroart (thanks again, Tamar). They are all set in San Francisco with a you-are-there specificity. The cover art of the next one on deck is a shot of the Golden Gate Bridge. It got me thinking about what our most iconic structures are. Man made, not natural wonders like the Grand Canyon or Niagara Falls. So maybe we can bat this around a little in the best chat tradition.

>>These are in no particular order and not intended to be definitive. In fact I had about 8 before realizing I had left out my #1. Here is what I have so far ---

>Hard to argue with that list. But....................... I don't consider Yankee Stadium to be an iconic landmark. I would replace it with the St. Louis Arch.

They're both in. We don't have to limit ourselves to 10.

I do disagree with you about Yankee Stadium, even though I have never been there in person. I have been to Fenway Park many times and from a pretty young age considered it holy ground. You look out at left field and realize Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski, and Jim Rice patrolled it for about 50 years. The Citgo sign. The green monster. Babe Ruth himself and Ty Cobb walked there. Maybe I should have chosen Fenway over Yankee Stadium.
