>>>>>Lately I have been reading the mystery novels of John Lescroart (thanks again, Tamar). They are all set in San Francisco with a you-are-there specificity. The cover art of the next one on deck is a shot of the Golden Gate Bridge. It got me thinking about what our most iconic structures are. Man made, not natural wonders like the Grand Canyon or Niagara Falls. So maybe we can bat this around a little in the best chat tradition.

Now you're funning with me ;-)

The Elvis I prefer to remember was the young Elvis, before he had much reputation. According to Peter Guralnick's sensational biography, he and his band barnstormed around the south in a nothing car with the standup bass attached to the roof, driving all night from one gig to the next. It says Elvis was a young man on fire, staying awake and talking through the night. He could scarcely have imagined what he would become, the good part or the bad part.
