First, please don't use all caps. It is considered shouting.

The big speed differences you are hearing about are true when comparing Delphi to VFP 3.0 and only apply to screen draw. VFP 5.0 is MUCH faster than 3.0. BTW, VFP has MUCH better OOP implementation than Delphi. Stay with VFP and you'll be much happier.
