Thanks! The view is local so I'm not aware of anyway to set any parameters. As far as the index -- I'm using a char string as the key. All it is does is update 25 records (about) to a table with 1.3 million records. I am now using the table directly and get very fast updates. I keep checking into this problem because I believe this should not be happening. It does not happen on other large tables ( about 700,000 records) I use. I have noticed that about a third of the table gets tranfered to the local workstation each time I tableupdate(1). I have tried changing the index to a unique binary number just for testing but have found only minor improvements. I'm at a lost. I keep thinking it must be something I have missed. You know like buffering or something else.
